 Motorized window treatments
Smart-home technology has come to the world of window treatments, with programmable timers raising and lowering your blinds and shades at the perfect hours during the day when you’ll want more or less light in each of your rooms. With custom motorized window treatments, you won’t have to spend your valuable time going all through your home to lower blinds against the scorching sun that can raise your home’s temperature, and thus your energy costs when your air conditioner has to work overtime. Instead, your programmable motorized window treatment system does all the blind- and shade-lowering for you, creating a comfy environment and saving you a fortune in energy costs, especially when they work their magic while you’re away on vacation – which also adds safety to your home, making it look to the outside world like someone is in the house and thus deterring robbers from targeting your home. Motorized Skylight Shades
Skylight shades are a great way to control and regulate the amount of sunlight and heat being generated by out of reach windows. Most people don’t think about installing skylight shades because they believe opening and closing them would be challenging (and irritating). But, with motorized shading control systems, skylight shades are more practical than ever! Read more »

 Motorized Window Treatments
Window treatments are an essential piece of any interior décor. If you’re renovating, one of the most important aspects you should be considering is your window treatments. Window treatments can be anything from Roman shades to honeycomb shades to motorized roller shades. Most window treatments can serve both the aesthetic function you’re looking for as well as solar control.
Depending on the window(s) you’re working with and the “feel” you’re going for, there are endless possibilities. If you’re looking for function as well as aesthetic, there are also a number of options:
Draperies
Draperies come in so many fabrics, it’s easy to customize for your home. If you’re looking for blackout draperies, it’s possible to purchase draperies with a blackout liner. Most draperies offer a decorative look and can provide solar and heat control.
Folding Shades
Folding shades are both decorative and versatile. They are a classic window treatment option and can add a warm feeling to any décor. Some examples of folding shades include Roman shades and honeycomb shades (accordion-style pleated shades). Folding shades are no exception to the variety of fabric and pleat choices, so they can meet your style and function needs.
Roller Shades
Roller shades have become more popular in modern and contemporary style homes because of the sleek, clean and minimal look they bring. Roller shades control the sun and heat while minimizing the bulky hardware other window treatments include. Roller shades can be customized to include a blackout or privacy layer and can also be motorized. Manufacturers of roller shades have started to offer “green” fabrics as well, giving you the option of using LEED certified fabrics.
Again, it all comes down to the style and function you’re looking for. When renovating a home, consider window treatments to be just as important as your furniture. They are not only complementary but offer a great feel for any room.

 Solar Control
Not all window shades are designing for solar control, many are simply for décor. If you’re in the market for new window treatments, it’s important to thoroughly identify your needs for window shades. If you’re simply trying to add some color to your room, in addition to the honeycomb shades already on your window, you may not necessarily need solar control. In other cases, if you don’t already have window treatments on your windows, purchasing window shades that don’t protect against the harsh sun, you can fight against your air conditioning.
Many different window shade manufacturers offer solar control options. One of the best options for solar control is a drapery system. Since most draperies are thick and can protect your interior against harmful light or heat, they are a great option to consider in any room of your house.
Drapery systems allow you to adjust your curtains horizontally along with the sun’s movement. You can open and close your draperies throughout the day to allow light in at certain times, and keep it out when the sun is at it’s strongest in mid afternoon.
To ease the process even more, you should consider motorized systems for your draperies. There are a variety of different motorized shades solutions that can be customized for any home. Motorized systems are very easy to use and can be set up on a timer! So, instead of manually opening and closing your draperies all day every day, set up your motorized system to do it automatically for you.
Draperies are a great option for solar control, especially because fabric and color choices are almost endless. You can even opt to add a blackout fabric liner in your curtains to fully block the light. This is a great option for bedrooms, media rooms and other living spaces in your home.
Aside from draperies, there are solar rolling shades that offer a clean, simple look to your home. There are honeycomb or Roman shades, all of which can be customized for your style and need. Most options are also available in a motorized system, so keep in mind the simplicity, compared to manually operated window shades.

 Motorized shades
Motorized shades are great for any office space. They are even great additions for public areas in office buildings, such as the conference room, the cafeteria or the boardroom. Motorized roller shades make a great window treatment option for many solar control applications. Since roller shades are very “clean cut,” they go well aesthetically with most office spaces.
The idea of using motorized roller shades comes in handy for any areas that aren’t easily reachable, which is why we mentioned the large, public spaces above. Having motorized shades, where they are operational through a remote, can be problem solving for everyone.
If you’re looking for roller shades for reasons other than solar control, there are many fabric choices and options available. Many use roller shades for solar protection, privacy reasons/blackout options or as screens in their conference rooms. With the manufacturer options and the wide variety of choices, it’s easy to customize your order and maximize the flexibility of your roller shades.
Control your roller shades with the touch of a button or enjoy a classic, stainless steel pull chain for manual operation. All shades, no matter the fabric can be customized for aesthetic and function preferences.
There are many other window treatment options that can be customized with a motorized operational system too. If you’re looking for honeycomb shades, draperies or another type of window treatment, chances are that they are available in a motorized option. With the variety of fabric choices available, there’s no doubt you can customize your window treatments to match you work atmosphere. Many window shade manufacturers now offer “green” fabrics as well, so if you’re energy efficient or look to save on energy costs, eco-friendly fabrics are always an option!
